How To Withdraw Paypal in Uganda

For quite a long time now the question on how to get hold of your paypal cash has been asked by Ugandan Online users, especially from Freelancers. Paypal has been the most popular payment processor that smoothed the process of online transactions, because of its speed and low transaction fees it has been loved and used by millions around the world. The down side to it, is that most Third World Countries were not able to make withdrawals as there money piled up. Which only meant that if you were in East Africa the only use for your Paypal money would be to pay for services and products from merchants that support Paypal. Althoug there have been many Virtual Debit cards that actually offered plastic cards like Payoneer, most people are skeptical about them because of the delivery and verification required.

After an exhaustive and fruitless search, I proceeded to emailing Paypal trying to confirm why they could not offer a Withdrawal Paltform in Uganda, they only replied that they are working on it and it would soon roll out a withdrawal platform. Well it spanned a couple of years with no progress. I decided to to research on how these processors work and why third world banks were not supportive. It came down to the fact of Security and Usage, Ugandan is lacking behind in. Truth be told not so many Ugandans make any substantial online transactions. This was confirmed when a Kenyan bank "EqityBank" signed a deal with Paypal after discovering that the young Kenyans involved in IT, were making some substantial amount of online Transactions. This compelled eqity bank to sign a deal with Paypal and Safaricom's Mpesa. on hearing this progress in Kenya I was excited for our counterparts but Very upset with the Ugandan IT community, my question is what do the young people in Uganda do online?. After this unveiling of facts, many questions were answered among many, one being why the Internet was damn expensive in Uganda.

After going over the internet for 4 years trying to figure out how a Paypal withdrawal in uganda could be made. I concluded that a master card would be the only Alternative. Earlier this year I stumbled upon a Kenyan Online money processor "Glo-money".

Glo-money enables both Withdrawals and Deposits to a daily limit of $3000 for verified and $500 as the maximum amount for unverified accounts. Deposits and Withdrawals can be made from your local bank account with a Debit-card, for Kenyans a mobile money processor known as Safaricom is supported while the rest of the East African counter parts may use either Moneygram or western union according to prefrence. Their fee charges are 10% for withdrawals and plus an additional $5 .Sending money from one Glo account to another is free while depositing to Paypal is considered a withdrawal and is charged the stated fee above.

Among the interesting services glo money has is the 'Paylater' service which enables you to shop online on credit more of  a loan to say. Its quite interesting if your account is down to zero this could be considered a life saver. If you wanted to urgently pay for an online service such as Webhosting. But i wouldn't recommend it as I consider the word "Loan" very dirty.

Glo-money also has a referral system where you are paid for any member you refer and successfully opens up an account with them.

The only inconveniencing thing would be the double charge fee, that is sending to Glo-money, lets say from Moneygram a charge would be set. Once your money is on your Glo-money account offcourse, you dont want to keep it there, you probably want to send it to Paypal. but i say its better than the trauma you endure from Payoneer asking you for your documentation and the delay of your card to arrive, which  most people need to reapply twice due to lost delivery issues.

The Pros
Withdraw if Payoneer is not an option to you.
They offer a credit service.
Send and withdraw anywhere through moneygram or western union.

Cons
It has highly inflated transaction fees.
The credit services will probably cost you your property.
